Very cool and unique 1949 Hayti Missouri High School Football District Champions letter sweater. Big, thick H patch on front with "District Champions 49" and a football on it, with two chevron patches on sleeve, one outlined in white and the other in black, likely indicating the years on the team and/or varsity. Name of the student-athlete sewn on the inside of cardigan is Banks Bradley. This piece was made by Nelson Knitting Mills in Duluth, Minnesota. Truly a one of a kind piece of Americana history.
This piece has light wear and signs of age, but is still in very nice condition for the age. The sweater has a few small holes on the back (shown in photos with a quarter for scale), which could likely be repaired/mended by a tailor or a talented knitter if desired.
No size tag, but this cardigan fits like a modern men's large. Item measurements are below, and were taken with the garment laying flat on a table.
25.5" length
18.5" width
18.5" sleeves (with cuffs rolled as shown in photos)
