Rare Antique LATE 1910s-Early 1920s Wool Walking Skirt ✨ Geometric Soutache Greek Key Border
An absolutely stunning, wearable piece of fashion history dating to the late Edwardian- early 1920s transitional era (circa 1916–1921). This full length column skirt features a beautifully draped minimalist silhouette typical of the post-WWI era.
This piece has a gorgeous art deco inspired geometric soutache design Greek key bottom border. The design is made of thick gold toned cord like trim that was hand applied with care.
Fabric: The fabric is most likely a mid weight wool crepe based on the feel and look of the fabric, otherwise it may be a wool flannel. The fabric is matte and high quality, the skirt is unlined.
Color: The color of the skirt is a rich camel with caramel at the bottom motif.
Closure: Traditional early 20th-century period fasteners featuring an original left-side placket secured with black metal hooks-and-eyes, hand-sewn thread loops, and metal snap fasteners. No modern zippers.
Overall excellent antique condition. A few areas with a bit of looser thread, mainly noted on the top band, but the overall structure of the skirt is excellent and could even be wearable. There are a few small pulls on the tops of the motif making a few areas a bit “fuzzier” than intended.
