This is a handmade crocheted yoke for a nightgown from the Edwardian era and for once it\'s not tiny, it\'s a generous large to extra large size! It is made of cotton crochet and has mellowed to a pale cream color. This was a style of nightgown with a fancy crocheted yoke to which a body of cotton or linen would be attached, and the yokes were saved for reuse. This one has been used because you can see some threads along the bottom edge where fabric has been attached. It is made of cotton crochet with a great pattern of butterflies, two on the front and two on the back. It has a V neck and is the same front and back. There are still remnants of the original pink satin ribbon visible, as shown - the ribbon allows for size and comfort adjustment. This measures about 21.5\" across the front at the bottom edge and the underarm; the length from the top of the shoulder is 11\" and from shoulder to shoulder is about 14.\" The side (underarm) length is 4.\" Seems to me that the butterflies are cleverly placed for modesty!I have laundered and pressed this, and found the fabric to be in sound condition, soft and supple and not brittle.
This one may have been used before, but it\'s in good shape for reuse andup cycling. Of course the ribbonwill need to be replaced for use. I love finding one of these in a generous size. I am also listing 2 others, so please check those too!
