#85 Vintage 1/1200 Eagle Eaglewall HMS Hardy Plastic model kit :
$29.99

Happy Holidays to All of You!
Up for sale here is a Vintage plastic model kitof WW 2, in 1/1200 scale, made many years ago byEagle (Eaglewall).
The British Destroyer HMS HardyAbout Eaglewall Kits:
According to Don Hood\'s recent book, Eaglewall\'s Table Top Navy (2012), Eaglewall, based in Dorking Surrey, UK, began issuing their series of 1/1200 scale plastic model ships in 1959, with the Exeter, Ajax, Achilles, and Admiral Graf Spee being their first kits. The company was originally known as Vulcan, but to market these new ship kits, the company borrowed the \"Eagle\" label from the famous UK boy\'s magazine of the 1950\'s. From 1959 to 1963, Eaglewall produced some 36 different model ship kits of WW 2, German and Royal Navy warships.
Eight of these same molds were sold in the USA under the Pyro brand in the early 1960\'s. These Pyro kits included: Norfolk, Dorsetshire, Bismarck, Victorious, Prinz Eugen, Warspite, King George V, and Prince of Wales. I bought my first kits, HMS Norfolk, and HMS Dorsetshirein 1963 in the USA. Pyro also created 4 new molds to augment their line of \"borrowed\" Eaglewall model kits. These included one mold for the IJN Carriers, Syokaku (Shokaku), and Zuikaku; another for IJN battleships, Yamato and Musashi; a third for US Essex Class Carriers, Essex, Hornet, Lexington, and Yorktown; and a fourth for US battleships, Washington, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Massachusetts. I believe all of these Pyro kits (minus the ones originally issued by Eaglewall), were later re-issued under the Life Like lable.
It has been rumored that these molds were later sold to Lindberg; and Lindberg did in fact put out advertisements that they were releasing at least 4 of these kits, Norfolk, Washington, Essex, and Prinz Eugen. Two of these (Norfolk, Prinz Eugen) would have to have come from old Eagle molds. But Lindberg never really released these kits. I have in my collection two of the kit boxes that were advertised (I have seen a third), and they are nothing more than a 1/32 scale motorcycle kit placed in a blacken-out Lindberg box, with a Lindberg lable on the top, showing artwork of the ship in question. Whether these \"fake\" kits were ever marketed by Lindberg, I do not know. I bought my two kits on E-bay, and the seller did not know anything about them, just that he had received them from a huge lot of Lindberg kits he had bought from a former owner of the company.
All of these vintage kits can be assembled either as waterline models, or as models on a stand with a full hull. They were never issued with decals. They all come with instructions, unless noted otherwise. They make great pieces for wargaming and are considered to be rare, collectors items, as well.
I will be listing my last 20 kits in the next week!In the kits I am selling, the boxes have been opened (in most cases they did not originally come with any kind of seal), and all show some shelf wear, as well as a few faded tape marks of the original store owner\'s seals. In my lisitngs I will alert the buyer/buyer to the condition of each box, complete with photos of each panel.
Most of the kits I sell will be complete, but this is hard to judge accurately. There are many reasons for this. Most of the kits in these series did not come with a parts list. Moreover, many of the parts are very small and some have a tendancy to come loose in the box, resulting in the loss of undocumented parts. Also, in some cases the instructions show parts that were never issued in the kit. Add to this confusion, the fact that often these instructions show parts and details that are poorly pictured, and one has a real problem on their hands in inventorying a kit to detemine whether it is complete, or not. In my listings I have done my best to inventory the parts in each kit, but I can make mistakes. Therefore, I have provided photos of all the parts in each kit, including any diagrams on the instructions that show the how the parts are to be assembled. In this way the buyer can study each photo and come to their own conclusions as to the completeness of any kit.
I will be listing my last 20 kits in the next week! Would any of you be interested in a built Eagle Gneisenau? It is coming! Iam thinning out my fleet, and selling the best kits I own, along with the best boxes. I will never be able to build them all. So,I share with you, O noble E-bay collector/wargamer, a great hobby that I have enjoyed for decades! God bless you and Good Luck!Condition of This Kit:
It appears that this kit is missing one small part. It is part #14, the platform for the amidships single 4.7\" gun. This part can be scratch built from your spare parts box very easily. The kit comes with its original instructions. See photos.
The box of the kit is inGood Condition for its age;it shows only some slight shelf wear on a few edges of the box top and on one side panel; both end panels have some smudges, and one of these shows a small crease; and there is some writing on the box bottom. See photos.
The last photoshown here is of a model that is not included in this sale. This photo shows a waterline model of HMS Warspite as she appeared in 1942, sailing at about 10 knots (to scale) across my computer table (on her way to engage Littorio on my adjacent printer table!). She was made from an Eagle Warspite kit, modified with many scratch parts, painted, and displayed on a wood base for war-gaming purposes. This photo is included to show what can be done with models of this scale.
The first 8 photos here show what the kit in this sale looks like and what condition it is in. This kit is being sold \"as is\" so please study the photos and ask me any questions you may have before offerding. Shipping: I do ship overseas!!
