Vintage Chinese Handmade Beaded Wedding Slippers (Kasut Manek) B101

These are traditional wedding shoes which in the old days would have been made by the bride. They were made in Malaysia or Singapore and were considered a status symbol for the merchant class. Vintage pairs like this one utilize ultra-tiny glass beads These beaded tops were then lined with leather and attached to leather soles. This pair also has a small heel (approx ½”). These were likely made by a contemporary artisan using traditional methods.

The condition is good. They have been used and some of the beads at the tips of the shoes are missing, as pictured. The soles also show some wear and there is a slight separation of the soles from the uppers. .

10-¼” long and 4” wide (they are marked size 40, but use these measurements for certainty).
