Okay, so for this one, I\'m not even gonna belabor over the backstory: if you\'re here, then I presume that you love and admire Iggy Pop as much as I do; so I\'m just gonna talk about the tee for a hot minute, simply because this baby\'s a total banger. Here\'s what we know for sure: this is an authentic, vintage Iggy tee from the 70s. How do we know? Look at the tag. It\'s an OG \"Healthknit,\" which has been defunct now for at least four decades. I\'ll get back to the \"Defunkd\" thing; but, for purposes of comparison, you can click on my listing for the \"Jimi Hendrix Experience\" tee by the same brand. That one, dope as it is, has been washed and worn a number of times, and it fits and feels like an absolute fever dream. Honestly, whenI first found this, I almost couldn\'t believe what I was seeing. Understand, as an avid collector and seller, one must keep one\'s composure: there\'s always the fortuitous possibility that the current owner doesn\'t quite know what he or she has--and that seems to have been the case here. The asking price was suspiciously low; and so, being the cynic that I am, I was naturally skeptical. But, soon enough--upon some rudimentary inspection--I realized what I was encountering: an actual, authentic deadstock Iggy tee from the 70s--preserved, somehow, so immaculately that it boggles the mind. I bought it immediately (there was no time to waste), and I immediately began embarking on the research--for, as learned and experienced as I am (again, predicated on both my fandom and my fervidness as a collector)--I was certain that I had something really special on my hands. As it turns out, there are only two other \"sightings\" of this on the entire internet when one runs a search; and I\'ve included pics of both my findings (see pics). One of them is from a site called \"gem.app,\" which corroborates the decade from which this tee apparently dates. Then, we have \"Defunkd\"--an impeccably reputable outfit that I\'ve cited many times here at the store. Put it this way, if they\'re listing it, then it\'s unimpeachably legit--vintage to the bone, and here\'s the best part (from my point of view): the tees that both sites are advertising are seemingly no longer for sale (if you\'re so inclined, and you have the time, do the research yourself). As I currently type, this appears to be the only one of these on the market--and, again, it\'s an absolute banger. I can\'t say for certain that it\'s never been worn (of course I had to throw it on for the pics, couldn\'t resist), but it\'s never seen the washer or dryer. There are several telltale signs, all of which are apparent in the pics: the texture of the fabric, the snugness of the collar, the purity of the tag. Not even one run through those godawful machines. (I never wash or dry any of my outerwear. Only my socks, towels, and underwear endure that horrific, disintegrating process.) But, I ply my trade like Jack the Ripper smelled how to pull off a homicide undetected: I\'m the one who knows. Even though this is a \"large\" by vintage standards, you can see how well it fits my slim, girlish figure (again, see pics). Everything just falls into place like it was born to be there. But I won\'t be wearing it out to the dive bar, I assure you. This one\'s going into that special place where everything remains as pure as the day I acquired it, mos def. This is truly a \"time-capsule\" piece; and, because I got it cheap, I can afford to let it go that way despite the fact that I have no burning desire to part with it at all. One of the rarest tees by none other than one of our sacred \"godfathers\" of punk--Bowie, Iggy, and Reed--that\'s about it, reductive as it may seem. Someone\'s going to snatch this baby up in short order, surely, Might it be you? We\'ll see. Unimpeachably, indisputably dope.
