Step back in time to the era of strict mourning etiquette with this incredibly rare set of three (3) matching antique mourning rosettes. Dating to the late Victorian period (circa 1860d-90s), these sombre yet beautiful pieces are a poignant piece of social history.
During a time when mourning was highly formalised, rosettes like these were worn pinned to bodices, lapels, or mourning bonnets as a visible symbol of grief and remembrance.

Quantity: Set of 3 matching rosettesMaterial: Deep black ribbed fabric (likely mourning crape, grosgrain, or faille) tightly pleated into a circular sunburst design, finished with a matching fabric-covered button in the centre.Construction: Authentic antique hand-construction. The reverse side reveals the original, thick hand-stitching securing the pleats to a stiff woven base (likely buckram or coarse linen), which was standard for millinery and dressmaking of the time.Measurements: Approximately 6 cm in diameter.
Condition: These rosettes are in excellent antique condition considering their age and delicate nature. The black fabric remains dark and crisp. The backs show expected raw edges and antique stitching techniques.
