Antique Victorian Edwardian 1890s 1900 Floral Brocade Jacquard Peplum Jacket For Sale

Beautiful antique late Victorian to early Edwardian fitted jacket, dating to approximately 1895–1905. This lovely turn-of-the-century garment is fashioned from an elegant muted beige and olive jacquard brocade featuring an intricate woven diamond lattice pattern with delicate multicolored floral decoration.The jacket has a beautifully tailored silhouette with softly gathered shoulders, long fitted sleeves, a sharply defined waist, and a wonderfully flared, pleated peplum. A row of small fabric-covered buttons runs down the front, while the sleeves feature snap closures at the cuffs. The interior is fully lined in cream-colored silk satin, including the beautifully gathered lining beneath the peplum.The combination of the richly textured fabric, subtle floral coloring, and sculptural tailoring makes this an especially attractive example of antique women’s fashion. A wonderful piece for an antique clothing collection, historical costume wardrobe, or contemporary vintage-inspired styling.The jacket measures 15 inches from shoulder to shoulder, 36 inches around the chest, 26½ inches around the waist, and 19 inches from shoulder to hem.The jacket is wearable and in good antique condition overall, with visible brownish staining and discoloration to an area of the front (please see close up view in last photograph), along with a small damaged spot in the interior satin lining (fifth photo). There is additional minor age-related wear consistent with a garment more than a century old. The jacket retains its beautiful shape, original decorative details, and considerable visual appeal.
