VERY RARE

A true World War I document engraved in solid sterling silver.

It commemorates the appreciation of the Mayor and Liverymenof London to Sir Edward Cecil Moorefor the recruitment for His Majesty\'s Forces in the early stages of the war.

The full text under the coat of armsis:

\"In a meeting or assembly of the Mayor Alderman and Liverymen of the general companies of the City of London in the Common Hall assembled at the Guildhall of the said city on Wednesday, the 29th Day of September 1915, resolved unanimously:

The meeting of liverymen desires to convey to Edward Cecil moore, Esq., Aldeman, late Sheriff of the city, its sincere thanks of the zealous with which he has carried out the civic duties during the past year, and tenders the sincere appreciation of the Livery to him for his efforts to encourage and stimulate recruiting for His Majesty\'s Forces.

The Livery note with pleasure that the Sheriff has on all occasions, ceremonial or otherwise, given his hearty support to the Lord Mayor, particularly in the great meetings under his presidency at the Guildhall, at which addresses were given by the Prime Minister and Lord Kitchener upon momentous occasions of the Great War. Bell.\"


Sir Edward Cecil Moore (22 November 1851 - 7 December 1923) was a local politician in the City of London.

He entered the Corporation of London as an alderman for Bishopsgate Ward in 1912 and held the office of Sheriff of the City of London in 1914-15 and Lord Mayor of London in 1922-23.


The tray is hallmarked on the back for English sterling silver, London date letter u for 1919 and maker\'s mark for Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company.

Also it is stamped with Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street, W.
